Velotech Gold
Velotech Gold is an accredited bike maintenance qualification, suitable for anyone needing to repair bicycles in a professional context as well as for serious enthusiasts. Delivered in a modular format and requiring a period of practical consolidation between three different levels, the Velotech training system ensures trainees gain confidence every step of the way. The cost of the course is £695.

Bronze ( First 2 days) includes:workshop practice and safety, basic procedures for wheel and tyre replacement, assessment and adjustment of cable-operated brake systems, assessment and adjustment of cable-operated gear systems, assessment and adjustment of headsets, assessment and adjustment of saddle and seatposts, completing a Pre-delivery Inspection.
Silver (Second 2 days) includes:workshop practice and safety, further work on tyres inc. tubeless, replacement of brake components, replacement of gear and drivetrain components, servicing headsets, introduction to bottom brackets.
Gold ( Last 3 days) includes; workshop practice and safety, replacing a spoke and truing a wheel, further work on brakes inc. a hydraulic bleed, further work on gears and drivetrain inc. a full installation, replacing threaded bottom brackets and press fit bearings, further work on headsets full strip and rebuild.
Assessment
Bronze and Silver are both continually assessed and via a written assignment. Gold is assessed continually, via written assignment and through a full strip and rebuild task on the final day.
Candidates must pass the preceding level before advancing to the next. In addition Velotech requires a period of at least one month between modules to allow candidates to practise and consolidate their new skills. Candidates are required to provide evidence that they have undertaken practical work during this period.
With the addition of the Velotech Professional award, candidates would be qualified to a similar level and have the same skillset as an “industry standard” shop mechanic.
