Cycle mechanic career progression
Who we are
Set up to support the development of skills for all cycle mechanics.
This new and much needed initiative is the brain child of Jon Colborne and Graeme Freestone King, two stalwarts of the cycle mechanic world.
Over the last two decades they have both delivered high quality training to new and established mechanics across Europe and more recently Africa and Asia.
Having supported an unofficial community of mechanics through informal advice to past-students of either the Bike Inn or Velotech they have now decided to create a more professional way of providing a continuous professional development (CPD) pathway.
Many cycle mechanics have been trained by providers across the country offering various levels of technical qualification. Some of these courses are directly comparable through accreditation, others self-assessed and then there are the legion of experienced mechanics with little formal training. The Master Cycle Mechanics Association (M.C.M.A.) is set up to support the development of skills for all of these groups.
